With the end of January rolling around, many of us are starting to feel the winter blahs. There are a few things that you can do to alleviate these feelings. One of the most important things to remember is that it is not the time to isolate yourself indoors. Friends can be your saving grace at this time of the year. Not only are they a tether to the outside world but they are also a source to talk over things that may be bothering you.
Getting out with a group is not only therapeutic it is a necessity for those who are feeling down. It allows you to temporarily forget what is troubling you and to make others feel better by working through what they are feeling. You also get to catch up with others and their lives and loves. The little bit of someone else’s drama can make yours seem a little less stressful. I used to have a friend that would tell me that after I updated her on my life she felt that her problems were nothing!
Another suggestion is to start a journal of things that you are thankful for everyday. Put down just three things you are thankful for everyday and it really won’t take long for you to realize that things really are not as bad as you perceived them at the time.
Remember to smile because it is contagious!
Until next time…..
